Formed in 1986 by Earl Young, Sam Young, and Jim McQueen, Young & McQueen Grading Company Inc. has evolved from its beginnings as a small grading and excavating company into a large general contracting and complete site development firm, operating primarily in Western North Carolina, East Tennessee, Upstate South Carolina, and North Georgia.

            From our home base in Burnsville, North Carolina , a rural community at the foot of Mount Mitchell nestled among The Blue Ridge Mountains,  we have successfully completed numerous and varied projects over the last 20 years involving development of difficult and mountainous terrain into suitable building lots while maintaining the pristine beauty of the surrounding mountains.

            Young & McQueen Grading Company Inc. holds an unlimited North Carolina Highway and Public Utility License #27438. We own and operate late model Caterpillar, John Deere, Volvo, BlawKnox, and Power Curber equipment. We also maintain and utilize our own fleet of haulage trucks. We employ a full staff of experienced, qualified project managers, supervisors, foreman, operators, mechanics, truck drivers, and laborers. In partnership with Caterpillar Inc. and first of its kind in our area, we are developing our own in-house training and technical school for safe and competent heavy equipment operators.
